There is a particular sound that can only be heard on Etna. It's not the wind in the birches, nor the crunch of volcanic gravel under boots. It is the deep breath of the earth.
As children, we watched the mountain smoke from our bedroom window. For many it was just a background; for us it was a living presence. The nocturnal "roars" didn't scare us, they were a familiar lullaby.
"You don't own the mountain, you belong to her."
This awareness was born early. We learned to read the signs of the sky, to understand when "Idda" (as we Sicilians call her, "She") was calm or when she demanded respect and distance.
Growing up, we realized that keeping this beauty to ourselves would be selfish. But we didn't want to be tour guides who repeat a script by heart.
We wanted to become interpreters of the volcano.
We studied geology, volcanology, botany. We obtained the most rigorous certifications, not to hang a piece of paper on the wall or for bureaucracy, but to ensure that every step taken with our guests was safe and conscious.
Thus Mt-Etna Excursion was born, the vertical brand entirely dedicated to the volcano of the Dream Island group.
