“Taormina” does not mean a single departure point. A hotel in the historic centre, accommodation in Mazzarò and an arrival at Taormina-Giardini railway station involve different journeys. Start with your accommodation’s exact address and compare the actual route. Two places that look close on a map can be separated by hills, steps or winding roads.
Know these three meeting points
- Taormina town centre: Poste Italiane post office, Piazza S. Antonio Abate 1.
- Mazzarò: Il Principe restaurant, Piazza della Funivia. Meet at the corner of the restaurant, near Mazzarò cable car station.
- Taormina-Giardini railway station: Via Nazionale 43. This is the railway meeting point, separate from Taormina’s town centre.
If you are staying in the centre, first compare the walk to the post office. In the Mazzarò area, check Il Principe. If arriving by train, consider the railway station when it is offered for your tour. These are useful starting suggestions, but your precise address and chosen route determine which point is most convenient.
Which tours use these meeting points?
All three are offered for Etna and Alcantara, the sunset tour, Etna and wine, and Serracozzo. The half-day trek meets in Linguaglossa instead, while the summit crater tour starts at Piano Provenzana. Open the excursion page before choosing a meeting point: the departure options are not identical for every itinerary.
Getting from your hotel to the right place
On group tours, free pickup within 30 km of Linguaglossa operates exclusively at designated points, rather than at every hotel. A private tour can arrange a different solution. Compare the walking or driving route on your tour page, then select the same point when booking. Follow the time in your booking confirmation: journey duration only tells you how long it takes to get there.
