Etna hiking and wine tasting: volcano and winery in one day

2026-09-06 Dream Island 2 min read

An Etna and wine excursion brings together two ways of discovering the same area: walking through volcanic landscapes and continuing the visit at a winery. Our programme spends the morning on Etna North and the afternoon over lunch and a tasting. It suits travellers who want time on the trails as well as at the table, without arranging the hike and winery appointment separately.

First the trail, then the winery

The programme includes the Sartorius Craters, with an easy walk of around 3 km, and a lava cave. Winery lunch and an Etna DOC wine tasting form the second part of the day. The tour page lists an approximate 09:00–17:00 programme: allow for the whole excursion, not just the tasting, when planning other holiday activities.

What this experience includes

  • SUV or minivan transport and a guide for the excursion.
  • Helmet and torch for the cave visit.
  • Winery lunch and a selection of red and white Etna DOC wines.

The experience starts at €120 per person and brings together the excursion, lunch and tasting described on the tour page. The selection of reds and whites gives you a chance to compare aromas and food pairings. At the winery, ask what distinguishes the wines being served and which dishes suit them. You can enjoy the visit without needing specialist wine knowledge.

Packing for trails and the table

Choose walking shoes and layers: there is a real outdoor walk before the winery visit. Carry a light daypack and mention any dietary requirements for lunch. Choose a meeting point listed on the tour page. For group tours, free pickup within 30 km of Linguaglossa operates exclusively at these points; a private tour can agree a different arrangement.

If a longer hike is your priority, compare Serracozzo. For a day combining the volcano with a river landscape, look at Etna and Alcantara. To bring together walking, lunch and the wines of the area, open the Etna and Wine Tour programme.
